John Buehrens was president of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. He holds a B.A. in history and literature and an M.Div. from Harvard, along with an honorary doctorate in theology from Starr King School for the Ministry, and is co-author of A Chosen Faith: An Introduction to Unitarian Universalism. He and his wife, a parish priest in the Episcopal Church, have been married 28 years and have two children. Raised an agnostic Unitarian, he converted to an evangelical Protestant faith in 1967. He holds graduate degrees in theology from Gordon-Conwell (M.Div.) and Harvard (Th.M.), hosts the Mars Hill Forum series on campuses and other venues nationwide, and is author of the three-volume set, First the Gospel, Then Politics...
